Courtship pigeon style, West Park. The male puffs himself up and struts about forcefully, the female walking away. The male continues strutting, still trying to get the female’s attention. This time, a jogger came along the other footpath. The male was distracted briefly, tbe female vamoosed.
Whitebeam flowers fully open on a tree by the lale in West Park.
Pair of pied wagtails on the edge of the canal on Mermaid Wharf at Wightwick. They were unworried by my presence, safely on the opposite side of the water.
Male orange tip butterfly at rest on some hawthorn flower buds in one of the bushes in the hedge by Wightwick Mill Lock.
Canada goose nest, probably with eggs being brooded by the female while the male was very much on guard. Right by the edge of Bag’s Pool and right by quite a busy footpath through Baggeridge Country Park.
Female large red damselfy, at rest first on an alkanet leaf, then on a jack by the hedge leaf, in the feeble sunsihine of a less than warm day in May.
