Snowy Waxcaps, short grass

It’s been a good autumn for mushrooms, and a good autumn for waxcaps, tiny, often brightly coloured mushrooms which can be spotted in lawns and other areas of short grass.

These are snowy waxcaps, which I noticed in various locations as I walked for exercise.

The crowds attracted (so far) to this winter’s offering of bird feeders is dominated by house sparrows queuing for the fat balls.

Bright reds, fly agaric mushrooms

Bright red with white speckles when recently emerged, sometimes paler with speckles washed away after being rained on, once again these are fly agaric mushrooms from various locations.
