A stroll round the outskirts of Worfield village, with yellow archangel flowers just opening all along the verges and the edges of the woodlands.

Rookery in the small wood by the bus stop at Wyken on the Wolverhampton to Bridgnorth road. It’s often noisy even heard above the din of the passing traffic, but only a few rooks and nests visible. Just after I had taken these pictyres, something spooked they birds, possibly a a passing bird of prey. What seemed like at least a hundred rooks took flight, circling and cawing.

Red dead nettle growing in a patch by one of the footpaths across the Doxey Marshes Nature Reserve. Apart from the flowers it looks similar to nettle, but isn’t. The “dead” just means it doesn’t sting.

One of the lambs had chosen what looked like a comfortable spot to sunbathe – resting on its mother’s back, leaving no room for its sibling to join it.
