Thriving despite the cold: wood blewits
These wood blweit mushrooms seemed to be thriving despite the frequent sub-zero temperatures. They were even producing new fruiting bodies.

Distant jackdaws in old oak
Seen from the canal towpath half way between the Bratch and Awbridge: a tangled old oak in the moddle of a field, with a gang of very noisy jackdaws high in the branches.
