The bright yellow flowers of lesser celandines, a sign that winter should definitely be giving way to spring. These were by the lake at Perton, and at the side of the canal at Wightwick.
I visited Northycote Farm to see whether I could spot any frogspawn in the pond. No sign, perhaps because it was only a couple of days after the persistent cold weather. As a consolation, I grabbed these pictures of the pond in the spring morning sunlight.
Some of the West Park black-headed gulls as their plumage begins to turn to take on the summer form, with the adults developing the black cap on the head which gives the species its name.
