Parakeet flying off, West Park

Parakeet flying off, West Park

I must have been the first person to go round the West Park boating lake one morning, as I disturbed one of Wolverhampton’s ring-necked parakeets which had been resting on the fence.

The bird immediately took off, and flew to the greater security of a perch among the tops of the trees on the island.

Heron disturbed, Compton

Heron disturbed, Compton

Heron, fishing recently by the canal at Compton – don’t know why it wasn’t with other herons at one of the local heronries.

Moments after I had stopped to take its picture, a small yappy dog came running loose on the bankside footpath in the field behind it, so the bird took off.
