This year’s teasles forming on some of the plants in the wetland area round the Compton Park pool. In the first shot, a few of last year’s teazles are present, in soft focus.

Common nettle-tap moths, tiny grey triangles, resting on the leaves of nettles or other plants near a nettle patch then fluttering briefly before they settle again. Lots around on warm days at the moment.

Meadow salsify (jack-go-to-bed-at-noon, goat’s-beard) seed head, like a bigger and more architecturally elaborate dandelion clock. More promienent too, on a longer stem.

Pair of azure damselflies engaging in their airborne mating over the pool at Compton Park, then landing on the water for the female to deposit the eggs. meanwhile, another, spurned male rests on a leaf.

Teazles growing by the side of Toposcope Hill, Baggeridge Country Park, this year’s teazles just beginning to develop.

A willow beauty moth which landed on a window, staying for some hours.
