The berries on a wild arum (lords and ladies) just starting to ripen from the top. On other plants nearby, they were already bright red.

Meadow brown butterflies seem to have been present in somewhat larger than usual numbers this summer (the other types of browns, the opposite …). Here are two which were feeding on thistle flowers in the verge of a country road on the outskirts of Codsall.
