Wolves Wild

In the midlands, the first early flowers are still the likes of snowdrops and crocuses. In the milder climate of south Devon, violets were already out recently.

A small group of mallards heading across the upper pool at Perton, almost in a line.

Bulrushes (or reedmace) with the feathery seeds beginning to spread from their seed heads. These were on the margins of Old Nursery Pond.

This healthy-looking robin was singing noisily to establish itself in its spring territory. It chose the perch to stand on which was only yrds from me.

Broad Eye Windmill, overlooking the River Sow at what is now the edge of Centre, but was possibly the edge of town when it was in use as a mill.

Another visit to Perton with its pools. Once again the muscovy drake was hanging round on the gravel at the inlet to the upper pool. It didn’t even seem to be hoping for bread this time. Occasionally, it bent its neck to take a sip of the water.
