Some of the teazles of the wetland area by the Compton Park pond, revisited. The highest leaves were now opening up to reveal the hook-covered flower heads.
Hungry cygnets, West Park
The surviving cygnets’ from this year’s West Park get their heads down under the water by the Conservatory, and spend some time eating what’s down there.
Five originally hatched. One disappeared, not long after. The remaining four seem to be doing well.
Common agrimony, flowers ascending
Common agrimony, another of the wildflowers in the wetland area by the Compton Park pond.
The flowers lowest on the stem have already doe their work and are going over. Those in the middle are at their height, while the topmost ones were just beginnning to open.
Magpie on the railing
Magpie on the handrail of the footbridge over the Compton Park pool, flying off as someone approached from the other direction.
Bright red poppy
Papery petal texture and bright red colour. This poppy was a garden escapee.
Not in the cellar
Cellar cup fungus, though these were not growing in a cellar. Rather, they were in the open aor, around canes which were supporting bean plants.
