Heron fishing by the shore, West Park

Heron fishing by the shore, West Park

Heron on one of the islands in the West Park lake, fishing. It was too far away to see what it was managing to catch.

Two other herons were also loitering in the vicinity, looking on suspiciously.

These pictures have been hanging fire since late August. But when I visited the park a few days ago, a heron was showing on the same stretch of shoreline.

Acorns ripening, rotting

As autumn approached, most acorns began to swell as they ripened. A spell of wet weathr meant some rotted before they were ripe.

Oxfordshire: longhorns, Christ Church Meadow

Oxfordshire: longhorns, Christ Church Meadow

Still not getting many photo-ops, but there’s a few subjects still pending from before I broke my knee. These long horn cattle were grazing on Christ Church meadow in Oxford, back when it was still summer.

Dewy moss (slight return)

Dewy moss

This picture once again from the same walk on Sunday. It was a beautiful sunny November morning, and so cold early on, with lots of dew on the grass and other vegetation. This mound of moss on the top of a wall caught my eye, and was at a convenient height for a close-up.

More posts when I have the chance – there’s a lot of medical appointments in the near future.

White mushrooms (slight return)

White mushrooms

Still on the same walk last Sunday. These white mushrooms were growing by a grassy area near Bantock Park. I wasn’t confident enough on my crutches to try to get any closer for a better look.
