Wolves Wild

The sound of vigorous thrashing in a shallow, reedy corner of Pool Hall water proved to be the result of some of the carp mating.

There were several fish, though I couldn’t count how many.

Swallow taking a rest from catching insects, watching the world from the line crossing the yard at Northycote Farm.

Pair of buzzards in a cornfield near Berkswell. The larger bird, on the left, is probably the female.

Fly and a (much smaller) bug, both standing on the same nettle leaf.

Flowering flag irises – these growing at the edge of the pond near the car park at Northycote Farm.

View across one of the unforested areas on the Cannock Chase high ground. The bright green ground cover is whinberry; the white may be bog cotton – I didn’t get close enough for an identification.
