I’m not sure if the pictures are of the same individual. They were taken a few minutes apart. During the intervening period I had been paying attention to other subjects.
Fungi looking like two small pebbles at the base of a tree between the Molineux Stadium and the ring road. They were perhaps a small earthball species.
Golden jelly is a common fungus which normally grows on dead branches, here on an elder. It is also known as yellow brain fungus, yellow trembler, or witch’s butter. It turns yellow when wet – despite the weather this winter, this one was dry when I noticed it.
