Former sandstone quarry by the River Worfe, near the village of Rindleford outside Bridgnorth.
Nowadays, the quiet spot is accessible only by a footpath which runs between the quarry and the river.
It’s not a nettle, not dead, and the flowers are somewhat off-white. But the plant’s general shape and leaves look like a nettle. “Dead” just means it doesn’t sting – because it isn’t a nettle. And the flowers are whitish (a related type is called the red dead nettle, though the flowers look a bit purple to me).

By chance, both pictures captured the birds with their nictating membranes (so-called third eyelids) protecting and moisturising their eyes while still leaving them able to see movement and potential threats.
