Male common blue damselfly (the females are paler and harder to spot) resting on a leaf near the edge of the vegetation fringing the pool in Compton Park. The first one to arrive this year.

Whitebeam, flowers beginning to open
Flowers just beginning to open on one of the whitebeam trees in West Park – indeed the same tree which had the still tightly closed flower buds in this post.

More of the goosanders which seem to be staying as summer residents on the Severn at Bridgnorth. This drake was gently floating downsteam, carried by the powerful current. Taken minutes after these pictures of goosanders on the riverbank, the bird here is a different drake.
