Greylag goslings

Pair of greylag geese with their three goslings on West Park boating lake last month. The young had only hatched recently, and still had their milk teeth. But one of them was noticably bigger than the other two. It must have hatched a day earlier.

Seeds on an elm tree growing by the canal at Newbridge. There are several elms growing by this section of the canal towards Alderley Junction, but they are now reaching a height that infection with Dutch Elm disease is now becoming likely unless they are one of the immune varieties.

Carrion crow by Water Bridge

One of the pair of carrion crows with territory around Dunstall Water Bridge – pictures taking while I was standing on the bridge.

First the bird spent some time surveying the area while it was perched on a nearby tree branch, on the same level as me. Then it flew down, landed and started to walk across the towpath.
