Bluebells – spring is here even if the weather only had brief spells at being seasonal back when these pictues were taken. These were all in the wood at the back of Worfield village.

More pictures of the West Park pair of greylag goslings in yesterday’s post, together with their protective parents.

When I arrived, the goslings were curled up together, napping on the path by the side of the pool. After a couple of minutes they woke, briefly pecked at each other’s down, then moved towards the water.

Song thrush stalking along the ground hunting after food, unworried even thoough there were people around in Worfield churchyard.

Mass of blackthorn flowers all at their peak in a hedge. The hedge had been trimmed recently, so all the flowers were more or less on the same level.

Pair of greylag goslings by the shore of West Park lake this morning, dozing.

The parent birds are just out of shot, watching protectively.

Also around: a second greylag pair, with three goslings; a pair of swans with three cygnets, and a pair of mallards with four ducklings.

Kestrel flying across the road at Worfield, heading for the woods. Its mate had already flown in the same direction before I could get the camera ready.
