A group of bar-tailed godwits, taking a pause on their spring migration and feeding on the water’s edge at Penzance in late March.

The pond in Compton Park, created four or five years ago, is gradually choking with advancing vegetation. This includes several patches of marsh marigolds, with bright flowers every spring showing their membership of the buttercup family.

Pipit, possibly meadow pipit, disappearing over the ridge of the roof of a seafront building, perhaps taking a pause while on migration.

Just a few dry and warm days in mid-April were all that was needed for lots of vegetation to come on by leaps and bounds. Such were the flowers on this jack by the hedge, growing by a hedge at the side of a narrow country road.
