Robin with territory by the small pool in Bantock Park. Here it was looking for food in a patch of short grass, and watching over its shoulder to keep a wary eye on me.

Wild arums, spathes beginning to open

Wild arum, spathe beginning to open

Wild arums growing in a small wood by the Wolverhampton to Bridgnorth road. When these pictures were taken the spathes (large, leaf-like structure) were just beginning to unwrap themselves from the spadix (spike the flowers grow from) of each plant.

Greylag goose family, West Park

Greylag goose family, West Park

More pictures of the West Park pair of greylag goslings in yesterday’s post, together with their protective parents.

When I arrived, the goslings were curled up together, napping on the path by the side of the pool. After a couple of minutes they woke, briefly pecked at each other’s down, then moved towards the water.
