Tow male cormorants sitting by the lake at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, not doing very much other than some perfunctory grooming. Suddenly a heron came wading through the water at the edge of the lake, got out on the bank, and stood there with none of the birds seeming to give any attention to any of the others.

Canal Junction signpost: Aldersley
Finger post on the towpath towards the middle of the long summit level of the Staffs and Worcs Canal indicates that it heads north to meet the Trent, and southish for the Severn, joining here the east or southeast heading climb by way of the twenty one locks to the Black Country plateau and the eponymous destination of the Birmingham Canal.

Collared earth stars, Perton, revisited
Revisit to a group of collared earth stars growing in undergrowth along a path by the Penk at Perton revisited. In less than threw weeks, some of the spore-containing globular peridoles had visibly collapsed still further.
