Orchids, 2019, Baggeridge

Orchids last month in Baggeridge Country Park. I probably missed the peak of the season, but the main patch of spotted and southern marsh orchids seemed to be less densely covered than in recent years. On the other hand, they seemed to be cropping up further than previously in the Lidyates orchard.

Gatekeeper butterflies – these were on the lower slopes of Toposcope Hill in Baggeridge Country Park, and the Barley Field in the Smestow Valley Nature Reserve.
