One of the West Park moorhens burying its head in its food, eating some chapati flower which had been left near the lake.

Lesser celandines flowering at the start of this month by the footpath round the lake at Perton.

Some of the tufted ducks on the lake at West Park recently. Numbers have been rising through the winter: there were over fifty the morning these pictures were taken, scattered in different sized groups on different patches of water. I don’t remember anything like so many in previous years.

A pleasing mass of snowdrops in a pleasing location below the west end of Holy Trinity Church in Coventry city centre.

I’d been watching the bird feeding station at Northycote Farm for a good quarter hour on a freezing morning. The only birds coming had been the titmice featured in recent posts. Then, for no reason perceptible to me, all the bird disappeared. Just as I had packed away my long lens, this robing materialised on the ground under the feeders.

A young yew at the top of Cannon Steps in Bridgnorth. The ends of the branches seemed to be covered in masses of tiny flowers.
