Candlesnuff fungus growing on a short tree stump at the top of Compton Hill. By the side of the stump there’s an earth star (possibly more hidden in the leaf litter).

Greens (acorns and galls)
More pictures left over from early autumn. Acorns ripening on an oak, some right next to gnarly galls. Persistent rain meant some had begun to rot.
Bells in a mossy bed
Mossy bells, another species of tiny mushroom growing in moss, on the top of the same garden wall as the oysterling posted previously.
Not beardy yet
In a few weeks these seeds will be surrounded by white feathery strands which give the climber its name: old man’s beard.
