Growing fast, and mostly moving fast as they swam across West Park lake, some of this year’s coot chicks.

Two of the many, many different types of umbellifers which can be found growing wild. These were both by the Severn in Shrewsbury recently.

In just a few short weeks it’s grown from a fluffy little bundle of down to reach adult size or thereabouts.

Filberts, otherwise known as cobnuts or hazelnuts, just beginning to develop. Come autumn, they are destined to be eated before they fully ripen: this is grey squirrel territory.
