Magpie on a branch by the Railway Walk, turning its head to keep a careful eye on me. The sunlight shining through the trees lit up an iridescent rainbow in the tip of its tail feathers.

Wisteria flowering, Mermaid, Bridgnorth Road

What must be one of the most magnificent specimens of a wisteria publicly visible in Wolverhampton, in full flower on the front of the Mermaid Inn on the Bridgnorth Road.

When these pictures were taken earlier this week, the warm midday sun was making the flowers produce their strong sweet scent, which the blustery breeze was dispersing in waves across the tables of the pub’s outdoor area.
