A cutting for a narrow lane in the soft sandstone near Bridgnorth left a narrow face. A series of circular holes in this rock are excavations made by bees for somewhere to live.

The first ducklings I spotted this year: three with their mother swimming on the canal near the Wildside Centre. It looked like they had been hatched for less than a day.

These were on one of the recent mornings after heavy overnight rain, which had left the catkins looking very bedraggled.

It repeatedly flew down to the path, found a morsel to eat, and returned to its station on the twig.
