xThis year’s brood of West Park cygnets, along with both parent birds, were feeding on grass near to the pool. Several lesser black backed gulls came along to see what the fuss was about.

Heron hunched as it rests on the rail protecting the island in the boating lake at West Park. Probably one of the pair which successfully hatched a chick on the other side of the island.

Bolete mushrooms growing in the short grass in front of the Finchfield shops. I didn’t hang around to get a close enough look to try to work out which type of bolete they were – several species of this fungus like the conditions under the birch trees there.
