Blackening waxap mushrooms emerge from the ground a vivid orange / yellowish colour, and then turn black (surprise). Look out for them growing in short grass – these were on the lawn of a local dentist.
The delicate flowers of meadowsweet, often found growing by water. These flowers and unopened buds were on plants growing by the canal at Newbridge, and by the pool at Compton Park.
Holly blue butterfly on leaves of an ivy growing on the wall by Castle Walk, Bridgnorth, in the warm morning sunshine yesterday.
I don’t know if it’s because of the places I go, but it seems that I usually see this butterfly around ivy, rather than the tree which gives it its name.
