The end of the cold spell in mid-December. The melting ice on West Park lake left areas still solid just under the surface.
Some of the mixed flock of black-headed gulls and lesser black backed gulls standing in this area looked like they were standing up on the surface of the water.
One common gull was there too – can you spot it in the first picture?
