Shades of green: lords and ladies, opening

Lords and ladies, opening

The distinctive appearance of wild arum means they have attracted a long list of vernacular names: Wikipedia lists snakeshead, adder’s root, arum, arum lily, lords-and-ladies, devils and angels, cows and bulls, cuckoo-pint, Adam and Eve, bobbins, naked boys, starch-root, wake robin, friar’s cowl and jack in the pulpit.

Look out for them at the bottom of hedgerows, or the edge of woods. The flowers should now have opened more than the ones shown here.
