Young martins were on the roof of the barn at Boscobel House, using it as a platform to launch themselves to practise their new flying skills.

The flower above has a ladybird disappearing into its interior. The one below has a tiny beetle on one petal.

This tall lichen was growing at a shady spot in the RSPB Coombes Valley Reserve.

This fly has huge red eyes. There is also a golden tinge to its wings and abdomen.

There are two tiny insects with very long tails feeding on this thistle flower.

The flowers are the blue structures and the brighter red structures. The pink “petals” at covers of the flower bud. This is yet another plant from the Conservatory at West Park.

These fruit have swollen pretty much to full size, but have not yet begun to change colour.
