“Tails” of sycamore flowers hanging from a twig. Like much this year, they are later than normal.

Clump of hawthorn flowers

Clump of hawthorn flowers

Like most other plants, the bad weather has delayed hawthorn flowering this year. Now spring has finally arrived, everything is out in a rush.

Fresh oak apple

Fresh oak gall

This oak apple, on a tree on the edge of Barley Field, can only have started developing very shortly before the picture was taken. Perhaps it is this colouring which gives these galls the “apple” tag.
