Giant polypores revisited
Several clumps of giant polypore fungal fruiting bodies growing on a tree root in West Park.
They were darker and more strongly zoned here than they had been a few days previously.

This was one of a handful of grey spotted amanitas growing under short grass in Bantock Park.

Grey spotted amanitas are mushrooms related to the fly agarics familiar from fairy story illustrations.
These were growing on a lawn in front of flats on the Compton Road.
They have been showing there in late summer for several years. In the past I have mistaken them for other related species, panther caps and the blusher.
This seems to have been a good year for grey spotted amanitas. Pictures from other locations to follow soon.
