Wolves Wild

A misty January morning in West Park. Very few people about. Magpie using one of the benches by the bandstand as a lookout point.

Bright red fungus, possibly a cinnabar polypore on a moss and lichen covered bough. Too far out of reach on the other side of a ditch to inspect more closely. Similar fungi had been growing there twelve months previously.

Black headed gulls, with a few lesser black backed getting in on the act. Most resting on the rail along the shore of the West Park boating lake on a misty morning earlier this month.

First rhododendron flowers of the year beginning to open on one of the bushes in West Park.

Greylag geese on the lake at West Park. A group of seven in the middle of the water seemed to be staring at two others which were nearer the island.

Winter flowers on a witch hazel bush in West Park, not very showy, but a pleasant perfume for January.
