Bright red fungus, possibly a cinnabar polypore on a moss and lichen covered bough. Too far out of reach on the other side of a ditch to inspect more closely. Similar fungi had been growing there twelve months previously.

On a lower branch of this tree in the i54 industrial estate, someone had hung a bird feeder. The bluetit had already paid the feeder a visit, and was now pausing in the branches while deciding whether to go back again.
