A male tufted duck on West Park lake. As ever, proving quite hard to photograph, because it seems to dive as soon as I get it into focus.

Another of the West Park magpies. This one landed perhaps four yards from where I was unpacking my camera, and immediately started rooted around in the undergrowth. It was aware I was there, occasionally glancing at me before carrying on fossicking among the fallen leaves.

A dunnock calling from a perch high in a tree. It carried on undisturbed even though it knew we had stopped to watch it, confident it was safe where it was.
