Buff-tailed bumble bee with very well-filled pollen baskets, taking a brief rest on the edge of a garden table (hence the elongated shadow).

After a couple of minutes, it flew off again.

West Park Canada geese – the large party of goslings as they were a fortnight back, beginning to get adult feathers.

Some swimming at the edge of the lake, feeding. Some ashore, then all swimming away.

Tree bumble bees -one feeding on an alkanet flower. Another landed for a short break on a garden table.

This tiny cucumber green spider had just caught a fly in its web when I noticed it, and was now binding the insect in silken threads.

Garden chafer deep in a flower on a rose bush.on a petal it was systematically eating. One picture shows the beetle half-hidden by the petals towards the centre of the flower. In the other shots, these petals have been held back to let full light fall on the chafer, showing its stunning colours and the depredation it had made on the petal.

Another visit to West Park, another view of the greylag goose parents very protective of their lone gosling, which this time was feeding on a grassed patch near the bridge.
