Early morning heron stand beside Wightwick Lock. I stopped to photograph some greater celandine and noticed it.

It paused its fishing to watch me, but didn’t fly off as I passed, even though it was on the same side of the water as me.

Tiny – less than half an inch long – this is a common garden slug, resting for some reason some four feet up on the wall of a house.
