Another magpie busily searching in the short grass of West Park for things to eat, unperturbed that I was nearby and watching it.
Cherry-plum, Wightwick
A tree in full flower in the hedge of the field opposite Wightwick Mill lock. It’s a cherry-plum, or possibly a wild cherry.
A recent arrival on the lake at West Park, although I have a vague idea it may have put in a previous appearance. It’s part mallard. I’m less sure of the other component of its parentage. An Aylesbury?
Flowering currant flower, close-up
Flowers dangling from a flowering current. My camera’s lens was almost touching the flowers to get these pictures.
Lone parakeet, Wightwick
Near Wightwick Mill lock, where a pair of jays were busy preening. The jays were high in a tree which was only a few yards from me, but were so busy they were ignoring me complete.
On the other side of the water, also high in a tree, there was a lone parakeet. It just gave me time for this single snap, before it decided it didn’t want the attention.
Pollen-laden pussy willow catkins
A bright yellow covering of pollen on these pussy willow catkins, contrasting with the blue of the sky on a sunny spring morning.
