Black rabbit

Black-furred rabbit in Sutton Park, sunning itself on a warm morning. When it decided I was getting too close, it retreated down its hole.

Pendeford Mill Open Day, May 2015, Heron's nest

The largest of the pools at the reserve has an island with a heronry. The birds have already raised this year’s chicks and dispersed where the food is better. I did spot one bird flyinng around, but it had disappeared to quickly for me to grab a picture. Thankfully, nests aren’t as mobile.

Pendeford Mill Open Day, May 2015, Pool

Every year, Pendeford Mill Nature Reserve holds an Open Day on the Sunday of Walking for Health Week. This and the next few posts are of pictures taken earlier today.

The reserve is in woodland with a series of pools by the River Penk. Here are some of the pools.

The reserve is open until 4.00 pm, so there is still time to get there.
