Bluetit eating from a fat ball. The bird’s feathers were distinctly in need of a preen, but it looked lively and healthy otherwise.

Snow on the ground, the lake at West Park partially covered in ice. A cold but sunny morning. High in a tree on the island, a heron catches the rays.

Winter seems to be hanging on for so long this year. Despite the dreary weather, there are signs spring is on the way. Yellow flowers are starting to appear, here some gorse opening.
