Yet another mallard family with recently hatched ducklings, these on the canal in the countryside near Castlecroft. The drake has stuck around, and is helping to watch over the young ones.

Coot on the nest in the lee of the island, West Park lake. The red of the beaks of some chicks can just be seen almost hidden. Possibly three chicks, perhaps very recently hatched.

Ground cover: wild garlic, Aldersley
Wild garlic, aka ramsom, grows in shady spots, and tends to spread to form a carpet of ground cover. This patch thrives by the canal not far from Aldersley Junction.
Pair of Canada geese on the lake at West Park, synchronising their movements as they swam together, repeatedly dipping their heads just below the water in time with one another. The start of a courtship dance.
