Chicken of the woods, Worcester, Wolverhampton

Chicken of the woods, Worcester

Chicken of the woods, fleshy bracket fungus, prized by foodies and often growing at arm level on tree trunks, most often found at this time of year.

Some of these were on a tree right by the river bank in Worcester, just out of reach, so still intact. Another was in a spot where it appears every year, inaccessible in the middle of West Park lake.

Wind-swept, Malverh Hills

Wind-swept

The few bushes above the tree line take on the characteristic bending before the wind form.
