Devon, February 2022: gorse

Gorse flowering, with its sharp but sturdy spines ready to repel any mere mammal which tries to get too close. Could be on almost any patch of rough ground at the moment, but this bush was on the stabilised sand dunes at the back of the promenade road, Exmouth.

A rock pipit, unperturbed on the wall at the seaward side of the South West Coastal Path as it runs along at the back of Capstone Hill, Ilfracombme. I was having a struggle with whichever one of the D, E, F storms it was blowing itself out that day.

During February, Exeter cathedral nave was dominated by a giant illuminated globe of the moon. mapped using detailed NASA photographs. This was the exhibition of he Museum of the Moon (now moved on, follow link for details). The actual moon had been showing well, just before sunset, a few days earlier.

One lone spotted redshank feeding on the mud of the Exe estuary at Topsham. The main feature distinguising them from redshanks is their slightly longer bill.
