Stickweed: the little hooks which cover the plant make it hold firmly on to most kinds of fabric, or to the fur of any mammal which gets to close. The flower was just opening at the end of this stem.

Greylag gosling, growing fast

Greylag gosling, growing fast

One of this year’s West Park greylag goslings feeding alongside one of its parents (the other goslings and adults were all nearby).

In just a few short weeks it’s grown from a fluffy little bundle of down to reach adult size or thereabouts.
