Sloes, just starting to ripen, and changing colour to mark this process. These were on one of the bushes in the blackthorn hedge on the Barley Field.

Can't see you: two herons, West Park

Two herons standing on the same fallen willow on one of the West Park islands, preening. They may have only been yards apart, and with nothing to block their views of the other. But, as seems to happen often with herons, they were carefully looking in directions where they could ignorge one another.
