A selection of individual weather vanes and doorknockers for Christmas. The distinctive eagle from the lectern of a church in Nottingham’s Lace market area has sneaked into the set.
Carp feeding, Perton
Lots of big carp, dimly visible through the water of the upper pool at Perton, busy feeding on the bottom.
In parts of eastern Europe, carp is a traditional Christmas dish, the centre piece of a Christmas Eve feast.
Tawny funnel caps. Perton
Growing by the footpath, in one of the beds between the upper pool and the shopping centre at Perton, some tawny funnel cap mushrooms.
Ginko, with fruit
A row of ginkos planted as the roadside trees at the Chapel Ash end of Compton Road. The autumn colours of the leaves are already striking against the blue sky of a sunny day, and tend to be some of the last to drop.
On (and under) one of the trees, there were also clusters of fruit – possibly the one female tree in the row.
Grey knight by a roadside
Growing among wood mulch by a roadside, a lone grey knight mushroom.
Greens (lichens and mosses)
Shades of green from some of the mosses and lichens growing on twigs.
