The flowers are beginning to go. This clump was one of many in the Cotwell End LNR, between Sedgley and the Straits.
The edge of the stream through the reserve is in the background. I guess the black pebbles being washed by the water are diorite.

These reeds were growing right at the edge of the canal towpath.
Male speckled wood butterflies try to control a woodland glade as territory, and fight off other males as they approach. If there are no other speckled woods around, they prefer to rest in the sun. A small garden with lots of trees and bushes makes a good substitute for a woodland glade.
