Spring might finally be arriving.

Here is one of the signs – the lesser celandine flowers are opening fully.

The long cold spell has meant the spring flowers have been long delayed in opening this year. But coltsfoots finally started appearing at the very end of March.

Lichen and moss covered Bromsgrove Sandstone, aka Lower Keuper Sandstone, exposed on Wobaston Road, Pendeford.

This rock, rarely visible on the surface, is resistant to weathering, and underlies some of the higher ground to the west of Wolverhampton, including Tettenhall ridge.

Great crested grebe swimming up and down on Pool Hall water. It was making frequent unmelodious calls as it patrolled.
