This was one of a handful of grey spotted amanitas growing under short grass in Bantock Park.

One of the numerous water boatmen skating over the pond in the garden at Wightwick Manor.

Grey spotted amanitas are mushrooms related to the fly agarics familiar from fairy story illustrations.

These were growing on a lawn in front of flats on the Compton Road.

They have been showing there in late summer for several years. In the past I have mistaken them for other related species, panther caps and the blusher.

This seems to have been a good year for grey spotted amanitas. Pictures from other locations to follow soon.

Foxglove seeds ripening on the plant are not instantly recognisable in the way the flowers are.

These were on a very tall plant growing in a shady spot in the Wightwick Manor woods.

Birch brittlegills are russula mushrooms which grow in association with birch trees. These were on a lawn by the road to Pattingham.

This young one had attracted a fly.
