Seventeenth century dovecote, originally part of Barnhurst Farm, with one of the local erratics in front of it.
The building, now in the middle of the Pendeford Estate, was one of those opened during last month’s Heritage Open Days.
Pedunculate oak acorns have a long stem. The acorns may, as here, themselves be elongated.
Acorns on the other native oak, the sessile oak, have cups much nearer the stem.
